Ailanga Sunday

Join us during worship on Sunday, February 5th for Ailanga Sunday.  Ailanga is a school in Tanzania, Africa that members of our church have visited every other year since 2004.  This winter Maple Leaf Lutheran Church member, Carol W will be traveling there with members of our three partner Lutheran congregations. On February 5 our worship service will feature African music, prayers and a chance for us to send Carol off with a prayer and a blessing.  Come out to support her and hear more about this great partnership we have with some other churches in Seattle as well as the Ailanga school.

Special Healing Service

On Sunday, February 12, immediately following the worship service, we will have a time for prayers for healing.  Those of you that would like to participate are invited to come forward to the altar railing as others are exiting the sanctuary. Those who come to the altar will receive individual anointing and prayer.  We receive the mark of the cross in oil as a sign of God’s healing presence.  If you have a specific request for healing for yourselves, for your families, our congregation, our communities and our world please let the pastor know otherwise you will receive a general prayer.

Ash Wednesday Worship

Ash Wednesday is on February 22 and we will gather together for worship at 7:30 pm in the sanctuary.  As part of the worship service, the pastor marks the forehead of each participant with black ashes in the shape of a cross. The act echoes the ancient Near Eastern tradition of throwing ashes over one's head to signify repentance before God, as related in the Bible.  This worship service also includes prayers, confession, music and scripture.  Please join us for this penitential and solemn service as a way of marking the season of Lent.  We encourage you to make the Ash Wednesday worship service part of your Lenten practice.
